Steve Waring
CFO
Steve is a transformational Chief Financial Officer, who has guided and grown organisations right across the business lifecycle: from start-ups to scale-ups to mature businesses.
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he was made partner, at the marketing services specialist Willott Kingston Smith helping negotiate the original deal and shareholders agreement that created Fallon London which he later joined as an equity partner. At Fallon, twice-named Campaign magazine’s Agency of the Year, Steve oversaw and managed rapid growth from five founders to 160 staff.
After leading Fallon London’s sale negotiation with Publicis SA, Steve was promoted to CFO of Fallon Worldwide. Headquartered in Minneapolis, he oversaw the network’s financial operations across six global offices including Tokyo, Sao Paolo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Steve returned to London in 2008, where he was tasked with the additional responsibility of turning around the commercial fortunes of Saatchi & Saatchi’s London office as CFO. Within three years, the business moved from a loss-making position to one delivering top quartile industry margins.
In 2011, Steve left Fallon/Saatchi/Publicis to co-found 101 London, a
strategically-led creative agency that would grow to a headcount of 60 and boast clients including Diageo, Lloyds Banking Group and Sainsburys. He played a key role in identifying an acquirer for the business and leading the sale negotiation to Mullen Lowe and IPG.
After five years of right-sizing a sprawling business and leading a company restructure into a single P&L, Steve left Mullen Lowe London in May 2023 to concentrate on his passion for start-ups & scale-ups, managing growth and helping position them to maximise value in the event of any exit.
Steve is a Former Chairman of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising’s Finance Policy Group.
He also co-founded and chaired the marketing services accounting services business RCW from 2015-2017 before its sale to Cubed Vision.
